“What types of writing assignments do you handle?”
As with any industry, over time you become specialized in certain fields because they interest you the most. This is what happens to a copywriter, too. Although I can write marketing materials for a number of purposes, I have created a niche of specialty areas. They are:
- Feature Articles
- Newsletters (print and e-newsletters)
- Customer Success Stories (aka case studies)
See my full list of writing services here.
“How do you quote projects?”
In nearly all instances, I quote projects by flat rate, not hourly fee. I’ve found that my clients appreciate knowing exactly how much the project will cost from the start because it makes it easier for them to budget for all of your marketing needs.
“What do you need to get started on my project?”
All writing projects start in this fashion:
1) Work agreement and payment - Once I understand the scope of your project, I’ll provide you with a work agreement/quote. This needs to be signed and faxed back (or emailed) back to me. Additionally, I do require a 50% deposit to begin work. The balance will be invoiced within week of delivery of the initial draft (net 15 days).
2) Information brief - In order to write the right message for your business, I’ll also need some important data from you. This includes information about your company, your products/services, target audience, your competitors, etc. Most of the time this is handled by scheduling an “information brief phone call” with you, simply because it is more convenient for you to relay the information in this fashion than by email or filling out a form.
“How do you handle revisions?”
Two sets of requested revisions are included in most copywriting projects, and are part of the flat-rate quote I provided you. There is one condition, however, and that is that the revisions must be requested within 30 days of receipt of the copy, and that they do not include any change in direction, scope or format.
Should you request revisions, I will promptly revise the copy to your liking at my expense. All I ask is that you take the time to help me pinpoint where you’d like the copy changed and why it has missed the mark. That way I can get it just right.
“I have a project that I need copy for immediately. How do I contact you?”
